CUD advantages

Compatible with SD card, But Smaller

| SD
card is the mainstream on the market today mainly because of its
small size, 32mm(L)*24mm(W)*2.1mm(T). But CUD card is even smaller

Compatible with CF card, But Faster.

| Except
CompactFlash and SmartMedia, which use parallel interface, all
major flash memory cards on the market use serial interface to
transfer data. Currently the fastest CF card supports PIO Mode
4 (transmission rate is 16.67Mbytes/s). CUD card also supports
CF interface and PIO Mode 4, but the transmission speed is even
faster. |

addition to CF interface, CUD also supports an open, royalty-free
standard interface proposed by China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan
industry. The interface supports three transfer modes: serial,
SPI and byte mode, with maximum transmission rates at 32Mbits/s,
32Mbits/s, 32Mbytes/s respectively. |

Conclusion

| CompactFlash
currently has the largest market share because of its standard
IDE interface. However, one fatal disadvantage - its big size
- makes DSC/PDA/Cell phone makers both love and hate it. The only
one advantage of SD card is its small size, but the slow transmission
speed and the protocol that's incompatible with other cards make
it unfavorable among the engineers. CUD solves the shortcomings
and covers all advantages of other cards. It is compatible with
CF card, only faster. Its size is smaller than SD card. It has
a patented built-in USB 2.0 interface which eliminates the need

|
現今市場上的主流有採用SD卡的趨勢,原因它是世上最小的卡(ΧD卡出現之前),長32mm,寬24mm,厚2.1mm。但CUD卡卻比它更小,長30mm,寬23mm,厚2.3mm。

2. 與CF卡相容,傳輸速率更快

除了CF及SM卡是以parallel模式(快)傳送資料外,其餘的卡皆以serial 模式(慢)傳送資料,目前傳輸速率最快的CF卡支援到PIO
Mode 4(傳輸速率為16.67Mbyte/s),CUD卡亦具備CF卡介面,支援PIO Mode 4,但傳輸速率卻更快。

CUD卡除了支援CF卡介面外,亦開放一個由中國、台灣、日本、韓國產業界共推免授權金的多元介面,該介面支援三種模式:Serial,SPI和Byte
mode,傳輸速率分別為:32Mbit/s,32Mbit/s及32Mbyte/s。

4. 支援USB2.0介面,不需讀卡機
|
|
世上所有的Flash卡,皆需要讀卡機,方能在電腦上存取資料,CUD卡內建USB2.0介面(已於2000年取得世界各國發明專利),因此CUD卡的使用者不需要讀卡機,也能方便地利用電腦存取資料,這不但給予使用者極大的便利以及節省成本,也讓擁有CUD卡的人,同時也擁有了熱門的隨身記憶碟-矽碟機。

5. 結論
|
CF卡是目前世界銷售量最大的卡,主因是標準IDE介面,但卻有一項致命缺點就是體積太大,PDA / 數位相機 / 手機業者是又愛又遺憾。因此SD卡趁勢崛起,然而SD卡祗有一項優點就是體積小,但是工程師又都嫌它傳輸速率太慢,同時自訂的傳輸格式不相容於其他卡。如今CUD卡的出現,把以上缺點都解決,並且涵蓋了所有其他卡的優點,亦即與CF卡相容,但傳輸速率比CF更快,而體積卻比SD卡還小,同時內建USB2.0介面專利,不需讀卡機,將使用成本降至最低。另外,配合高精密又插拔簡便的Connector設計,更增加CUD卡的競爭力。
